Grandparentage DNA Test
(Additional participants may be added for an additional fee.)
DNA Direct offers confidential, accurate, fast, and affordable grandparentage testing services.
A grandparent DNA test calculates the likelihood of relatedness between a child and one or both grandparents.
Because a child inherits exactly 50% of its genes from its biological mother and 50% from its biological father, that child shares exactly 25% of its genes with each biological grandparent. If both biological parents of the alleged father are tested and they do not possess the paternal genes between them, then they are excluded (ruled out) as the biological grandparents. When both biological parents of the alleged father possess the paternal genes between them, they are not excluded as the biological grandparents. For these tests, we recommend testing both alleged grandparents as well as the mother if possible to achieve the most accurate results.
While testing only one grandparent is perfectly okay, it is important to understand that it may not always be possible to obtain conclusive results in a grandparent DNA test when both grandparents are not tested. This is because testing one alleged grandparent allows us to identify only half of the possible genes of the unavailable alleged parent.
We understand your need for results to remain confidential. Once testing is complete, we will only send results to the email address you provide when the order is placed. We will not issue results over the phone.
